L.A. Family Housing Harvest Festival and Halloween party

Sunday October 30th...What's sweeter than candy, taking time to give back and thanks to volunteers from Partner's Trust and Hot 92.3 160 kids and their families got some extra special attention yesterday. Shann Silver, of Partner's Trust asked me to join at the kids arts and crafts table but instead we found ourselves volunteering at the most popular activity area, the pony rides. As a former equestrian I was more than thrilled and happy to give the ponies some attention too. It may not seem like much but four hours of pony rides, cookie decorating, temporary tattoos and music brought a lot big smiles to160 kids. That's priceless.

L.A. Family Housing’s mission is to help families transition out of homelessness and poverty through a continuum of housing enriched with supportive services. LAFH has 65 families at our Sydney M. Irmas Transitional Living Center, so that means we had about 160 kids at yesterday’s Harvest Festival. The kids had a blast riding the ponies, playing games, and painting their pumpkins. The families also enjoyed a BBQ lunch, popcorn, cotton candy and music from HOT 92.3 radio. Thanks again to Partners Trust volunteers for helping to make this event a wonderful treat for kids and families at L.A. Family Housing.
